Project:

Muebles Desigual, Desigual Store, La Rambla, Barcelona, June – August 2006

Client:

Castel Veciana, Architecture Studio, Barcelona

Brief:

Commission from Castel Veciana, architects of a new store concept for the Spanish fashion chain, to create bespoke furniture for a clothing display in the new Desigual store on La Rambla, one of the main shopping streets in Barcelona.

Process:

Take the bold, deliberately mismatched style of Desigual clothes + reflect this in a series of collaged sculptural pieces, reflecting the brand in a fresh way. Rescue old discarded furniture from junkyards, flea markets + off the street. Give new life to these unloved pieces by creating hybrid furniture.

Result:

Hat stands + lamp stands become clothes racks, old doors become tables, window frames become hangers, piled up tables become shelving creating a dramatically unique interior for this high street store.
